• 21 troops, many of whom showed exceptional bravery in the face of hostile forces, have received the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military distinction for valor.

There were about 2,000 enemy soldiers, backed by a mobile infantry brigade and forty-five tanks. The Indian soldiers resisted all night long despite being greatly outnumbered. They were able to decisively beat the Pakistani forces with the Indian Air Force's vital air help.
