Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 is set to take place on February 5, and there are a lot of things taking the center stage. The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections are being considered a rigorous triple clash between AAP, BJP, and Congress. The AAP government, of which Arvind Kejriwal is a part, is dealing with some issues related to the liquor excise policy scam and pollution, on which the BJP hopes to achieve a majority. Moreover, Kejriwal's plea for preserving the Jat community in Delhi is one more bone of contention.
Another problem is how Congress, although mainly marginalized, criticizes AAP and its alliance partner, I.N.D.I.A. In the meantime, the controversy over a Punjab government vehicle with cash, the illegal sale of liquor, and the posting of AAP pamphlets has become more motive.
On January 29, 2025, PM Modi spoke at a rally in Delhi. He criticized Arvind Kejriwal's claims about "poison" in the Yamuna. Modi said Delhi's people are tired of excuses, false promises, and AAP's "loot and lies." He urged voters to let him lead after 25 years of Congress and AAP rule.
Nadda charges Kejriwal with starting an interstate dispute through his "poison in Yamuna" statement, which he labels as treasonous. The cleaning project of Yamuna River under Kejriwal's leadership has failed while pollution continues to affect the waterway.
Nadda criticizes the AAP for its failed panic button system, which he describes as a scam while arguing that the Sheesh Mahal requires a panic button because of women's disrespect.
Amit Shah criticizes AAP because the party failed to fulfill its commitments to doubling healthcare facility spaces and removing alcohol stores from residential districts while accusing Kejriwal of dishonesty toward voters and financial misconduct.
Shah maintains that Kejriwal has transformed Delhi into a massive trash site and asserts that he should step down as a leader since he cannot manage the city during wet conditions.
Shah rejects Kejriwal's statement about BJP polluting Delhi by pointing out that Kejriwal has polluted the Yamuna River and supplied the people of Delhi with water containing contaminants.
Sisodia holds the BJP accountable for the toxic water that reaches Delhi from Haryana, and he places responsibility on their Haryana government.
Rahul Gandhi of Congress recently accused Arvind Kejriwal of discrimination against Dalits and minorities by failing to clarify his stand on caste census at a rally held in Bawana. Mr Gandhi asserted that Kejriwal could not stand by people during the February 2020 north-east Delhi riots.
BJP MLA candidate from the New Delhi Assembly, Parvesh Verma, releases a balloon labeled "Kejriwal ke paap."
Multiple major issues will determine the outcome of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections 2025.
1. Corruption Allegations: The BJP emphasizes corruption allegations by targeting the liquor excise policy scandal and claims of public fund misuse by the AAP government. The allegations appeal to voters because Delhi faces ongoing pollution problems and other governance challenges.
2. Pollution and Governance: Air pollution seriously threatens Delhi's residents. The BJP presents itself as the only party capable of effectively addressing pollution issues while criticizing AAP for failing to handle the situation since its rule began properly. The government of Kejriwal stands behind its pollution management record even though environmental issues persist as political points of debate.
3. Social Issues and Reservations: The 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections dynamics become more complex because Arvind Kejriwal advocates for Jat community reservations in Delhi. The decision to extend Jat reservations might gain support from Jat voters, yet it could potentially drive away other city residents. The request has initiated a public discussion about social equality and representation within the population.
4. Alleged Electoral Malpractices: The Punjab government vehicle incident, where authorities discovered cash, liquor, and AAP pamphlets, triggered fresh accusations between political parties. Electoral malpractices remain a concern because AAP and BJP have accused each other of attempting to sway the vote.
The upcoming electoral discussions will center on these matters, which will affect voter choices and form the political structure of Delhi.
Kejriwal accuses the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of meddling in politics and undermining the credibility of the electoral commission over Yamuna poisoning allegations - saying they have caused division between political parties in Delhi.
AAP- ruled Delhi for over 10 years now faces stiff opposition from the BJP, which seeks to regain power after 25 years in Delhi.
Election Commission of India officials say AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's response did not provide evidence regarding the poisoning of river Yamuna.
On January 27th, Kejriwal made allegations against the Haryana BJP government of mixing poison into Yamuna water that flows towards Delhi.
