5.9 million tonnes of Lithium Reserves were recently found in Jammu and Kashmir by The Geological Survey of India. The discovery has sparked excitement among scientists and investors alike. Most of the lithium reserves are concentrated in South America; especially in countries such as Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. These 3 countries are called the Lithium Triangle. However, China produces 75% of the world’s lithium. Lithium falls in the critical resource category which was not earlier available in India and we are dependent for its 100 percent import.
